CET Designer history: KCID450 – Senior Studio A – Spring 2013

CET Designer opportunity: KCID450 – Senior Studio A – Fall 2013

CET Designer strategy: Series of exercises that expose students to the technology and have them explore the capabilities and the variety of furniture options. CET Designer Exercise #1 – step by step instructions to build a few spaces using the Walls extension and furniture space planning together. Each student then adds to that assignment independently and submits. * Tip – use of a LMS will allow students to submit electronically without file size issues. Ethernet connections are encouraged for large file sizes.

CET Designer exercise #1:

CET Designer exercise #2: Students develop typical open office workstation settings. This has them exploring the furniture application options and further experiencing the technology.

CET Designer exercise #3: Using what was developed in exercise #2, students add finishes and create a simple rendering using the photo lab.

CET Designer exercise #4: Students then create a report and export bill of material for the settings developed in exercise #2.

CET Designer final projects:

CET Designer final projects:

CET Designer support: first line of support is instructor - be brave second string is dealer support – build those relationships, and don’t abuse back up is Configura chat support – typically this is the technology system settings, or the mysteries that can happen…

CET Designer learn from my mistakes: Expectations for installation… The first semester, I had the students build ALL of the architecture in CET Designer. Originally I had 3 exercises and combined the rendering with the report. CET Designer is better in smaller bits.

CET Designer learn from my mistakes: Time management and differentiating learning styles – use screen capture and update each semester!
