Slave trade Why were people forced to go to America to become slaves?  Many of the blacks that were brought into this country as slaves were sold to the slave traders by other blacks in Africa.  Some were members of a tribe that had been captured by another tribe and sold into slavery. Others were just sold by their chieftains for a few beads How was they treated in America?  blacks and white were completely separated. in the early 1600 black people were brought over to America to serve as slaves and the conditions were terrible. butt things didn't get much better blacks were restricted from things every one should have such as voting. It was really not fair for the black people and many people felt sorry for them such as white people as well.

The African slave trade to the Americas and Europe was the result largely of wars within African tribes. Tribes and nations would war over territory or other common causes, and the victors would punish their captives by selling them into slavery. Slavery has been around since Old Testament days. Slavery helped Africa and Europe. Many European countries had slaves. It helped some people in Africa. They sold their fellow Africans for money. It helped America bc it was cheap labour. There is a myth that US was built on slavery. Only 20 percent of southerners owned slaves. That would average out to less than five percent nation wide
