What Causes Hearing Loss?

According to the ASHA, hearing loss affects approximately 28 million people in the United States.

Birthdays: Hearing ability decreases with age.

Noise: According to ASHA, 30 million Americans are exposed to excessive noise levels daily.

Disease or Infection: Meniere’s disease affects the inner ear resulting in hearing loss, vertigo, and ear fullness or ear ringing (tinnitus).

Medication: Medications may damage the auditory system.

Benign Tumors: A vestibular schwannoma (also known as acoustic neuroma) is a growth near cranial nerves.

If you suspect hearing loss, talk to your physician or audiologist to schedule an evaluation.

The sooner it is treated, the better the outcome.
