Classification Rohypnol is a depressant that belongs to Schedule IV, meaning it has a low potential for abuse

History It was first synthesized in Europe by Hoffman-La Roche It first appeared in the U.S. in the early 1990’s The drug has been shipped into the U.S. through international mail or carrier services from other countries

Production Rohypnol contains ingredients that slow down the brain and body It’s easily obtainable making it very widespread Detection Rohypnol is tested for in the urine within 72 hours using analytic tests

The User Common Users: -High school students -College Students -Heroin Users -Cocaine Users High school and college students use it for recreational purposes, when they go to raves or clubs Cocaine and Heroine users take Rohypnol to counteract the side-effects of the Cocaine and Heroin

Affects It can be: -taken orally -injected -snorted -smoked with weed It impairs motor skills Abusers can develop a physical and psychological addiction within weeks or months after the first time using it It does not have medicinal value in the U.S, but it is used as an anesthetic in other countries
