Good Citizenship

Students who display the lifelong learner traits are also called… Good Citizens

Brainstorm What is a good citizen? Good citizens are people that believe in and practice justice, truth, equality, and responsibility for the common good.

Good Citizenship Traits Citizen – someone who loves a particular place, such as city or country; someone who has rights and responsibilities to do the right thing Respect – to treat people the way you would like to be treated

Good Citizenship Traits Courtesy – respect for and consideration of others Responsibility – making good choices and doing what others expect of you

Good Citizenship Traits Fairness – playing by the rules, being fair Honesty – telling the truth

Good Citizenship Traits Courage – doing the right thing even when it is hard to do Loyalty – having a strong feeling of support or allegiance Discipline – being dependable and having self-control

Think of people you know that are good citizens. Why is it important to be a good citizen? Remember – When the members of a classroom, city, or country are good citizens, the system works.

Think of people you know that are good citizens. What happens when people are not good citizens? How can ordinary or regular people be good citizens? Are good citizens always famous?
