What is Health? A state of well-being that comes with a good balance of all aspects of health.

5 Major Aspects of Health Physical Health- your physical characteristics and the way your body functions. Examples: fitness, absense of disease, overall physical condition.

2. Social Health- interactions with people to build satisfying relationships. Examples: Helping others, spending time with others.

3 . Spiritual Health- maintaining harmonious relationships with other living things and having a purpose in life or spiritual direction. Examples: purpose on life or religion.

4. Mental Health- the ability to recognize reality. Examples: sense of self-worth, cope with stress, open mind.

5. Emotional Health- expressing feelings in appropriate ways. Examples: expressing anger without violence or serious depression.

What are some influences on health? 1. Heredity- biological inherited traits. Ex.: skin cancer, breast cancer, etc. 2. Gender- risks vary between genders. 3. Environment- physical & social conditions that surround a person. Ex.: hygiene, air/water, diet, etc. 4. Culture- the beliefs & patterns of behavior that are shared by a group of people. Ex.: foods, how emotions are displayed, etc.
