Components of Health

Physical  Physical characteristics and the way your body functions –Strength –Metabolism –Body composition (% of body fat vs. lean tissue) –Disease, illness –Sleep –Diet –Exercise –Avoid drugs & alcohol

Mental  The ability to recognize reality & BEING REALISTIC –Open to learn new things –Stress –Self-esteem –Ability to adapt to change –Having a + or - outlook (optimist or pessimist) –See mistakes as opportunities –Self talk + Self talk

Social  Ability to make and keep friends, seek and lend support, and cooperate  Friends, peers, adults, parents, boss, co- workers –Support group Confidentiality Discuss problems Trust
