What is AIRMAIL? A radio messaging program for HAMS! A radio terminal program for KB-KB, KB to BBS A standalone program A host interface to Outlook (Express) All of the above!

Minimum Requirements? Windows-95, 98, ME, NT4.0, Win-2000 or Win-XP For HF-  Pactor Modem such as: -SCS PTC-II, IIe, or IIpro -Kantronics KAM+, KAM with "enhancement board, or KAM-98 -AEA PK-232mbx, PK-900, DSP1232/2232 (firmware must include Pactor mode, and ver 7.1 or later firmware is needed to use binary mode) -MFJ 1276 or 1278B (ASCII modes only) -HAL DXP-38 -SCS PTC-plus (Pactor-1), ASCII modes only

Minimum Requirements? For VHF-  Packet Modem such as : KPC3, KPC3+, Kam98, Kam+, PK232,PK900,DSP232, PTC-II AGWPE

Minimum Requirements? Note: Some TNC’s require a firmware upgrade because: 1.They don’t support the host mode or 2.They don’t have PACTOR For example: MFJ-1278 requires MFJ-48 Eprom upgrade to version 3.7 which includes the host mode. The PK232 may require the MBX, MBX firmware, PSK, and/or low power upgrade Kantronics KAM requires firmware v6 or higher.

Configuring AIRMAIL

Configuring OUTLOOK

Test the internet connection

Test the packet connection First, turn on the VHF Packet Client

Test the packet initialization Next, select the packet client

Test the packet initialization Next, the TNC should initialize properly – if it doesn’t check cables, baud rate. Make sure you have the right TNC selected in the AIRMAIL setup. If it still doesn’t initialize, you may not have updated EPROMS in your TNC and the HOST mode is not supported. You need to get updated firmware.

Test the packet connection Automatic mode to get mail

Test the packet connection Manual mode for Keyboard QSO TX SPLIT SCREEN RX SPLIT SCREEN

Test the PACTOR initialization TURN ON TERMINAL WINDOW TURN OFF PACKET CLIENT

Test the PACTOR initialization Next, select the HF Terminal (PACTOR)

Test the PACTOR initialization Example of successful PACTOR initialization. If you don’t get this screen, your TNC may not support PACTOR and may need to have a firmware upgrade.

Test the PACTOR Connect 80 Meter Pactor Frequency Automatic BBS Mode Manual connect only, no autoforwarding – listen before Transmitting to make sure frequency is clear

The End!
