How to analyse information efficiently An understanding of how a paragraph is structured Understanding exactly what a question is looking for

Should you read the text first, then the questions OR should you read the questions first, then the text??? There are many different ways of doing things. scan the text quickly to get a feeling of the subject Identify the different parts of the subject Identify where within the text these parts are located Read the questions carefully Get a clear information of what is being asked, if possible identify which part of the text contains the information required Do not leave any question unanswered. If answer is not known, GUESS

What are the basic reading exam tasks? Multiple Choice Questions Many times have four choices All the choices may seem to be correct Only one answer is completely correct The others are nearly correct Maybe partially correct

What are the basic reading exam tasks? Multiple Choice Questions If a text has 8 paragraphs and there are 8 questions:  Usually the first question relates to the first paragraph  The second question then relates to the text after the first

What are the basic reading exam tasks? Missing Sentences  The exercise requires the sentences to be returned to their correct position  All the sentences of a paragraph discuss the same subject  So the missing sentence and its parent paragraph should share the same subject
