DALTON DICKSON MRS. BISHOP 5 TH PERIOD How to Use Pythagorean Theorem

This is a right triangle. We will find the ‘C’, or hypotenuse, of this right triangle, when only given ‘A’ and ‘B’. A B C

So, in order to do this, we will use something called Pythagorean Theorem. Pythagorean Theorem uses the formula A + 2 B 2 =C 2

This means that one leg of the triangle squared (or times itself) plus the other leg squared, equals the final leg, or the hypotenuse, squared. Leg 1 Leg 2 Hypotenuse 2 3 ? is our equation =?=? 2 So,

=?=? 2 2 = = = square rooted comes out as 3.5 So, =3.5 2 The third leg is 3.5
