SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop SDSS – Current Status DR6 is the current public release  Released on Jun DR7.1 is open to SDSS collaboration  Last week “DR7” is planned to be released to public around Oct  Final release of SDSS II - contains all observational data through the end of the project.

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop SDSS DR7 – Release Schedule Old plan  DR7 in 2008 Spring Contains the data observed till 2007 Summer  DR8, the final release of SDSS-II, at the end of 2008 Contains the data till the end of SDSS-II, Jun. 2008

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop SDSS DR7.1 Coverage Imaging  Legacy survey Coverage : 8417 square degree footprint area is same with that of DR6. i.e. No more legacy imaging observation since DR6  SEGUE Coverage : 2400 square degree ~ 1240 square degree more than DR6

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop SDSS DR7.1 Coverage Spectroscopy  Legacy survey Coverage : 7470 square degrees Almost all the gaps are now filled in the northern galactic hemisphere Spectra obtained for over ~1,200,000 objects  SEGUE Coverage : 780 square degree ( 125 more) Spectra obtained for over ~150,000 objects

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop NYU Value Added Galaxy Catalog A galaxy spectrscopic catalog not very large in size, for easy handling in a computer Based on Princeton Reduction  for photometry & spectroscopy  Results in lower variance in large-scale errors in the calibration in photometry Also offers the matching results with other catalogs  RC3, 2dFGRS, 2MASS..

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop NYU Value Added Galaxy Catalog DR7 – based on SDSS DR7.1  Released on Jan to SDSS collaboration  Catalogs Includes SDSS Main galaxy samples Contains ~2,600,000 entries Preparation for further application is being done at KIAS

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop About SDSS DR7(7.2) Imaging Coverage  … Spectroscopy Coverage  Include the result of observation till spring  Will fill the gaps completely (hopefully)

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop About SDSS DR7(7.2) Improvements in the data processing  Spectroscopy - improvement in flat-fielding & wavelength calibration Affect stellar photometry, but very minor effects for most extragalactic objects  Imaging - improvement in image processing for the crowded field in lower galactic latitute region

SDSS-KSG 08 Workshop KIAS SDSS Mirror Available data  Catalogs for BESTDR6, and SEGUEDR6 dataset  Raw image - DR5 dataset Data Access  Data can be accessed within KIAS via NFS mount, for example.  Web interface will be available soon

And Problem  Access from outside of KIAS is NOT allowed due to internet security problem So?  Access will be allowed after the installation of firewall “soon”  At present, guest KIAS is offered upon request, to access the KIAS host as a gateway to KIAS SDSS mirror
