 A volunteer is someone who provides a service without paid.When you volunteer,you may help others and gain a different perspective on life.  You can learn about an activity or organization that interests you.

It is easy to get started.  List-your skills,talents and interests.You will enjoy being a volunteer if your abilities and interests match your activities.  Ask –your teacher or guidance about opportunities to participate in service learning  Call or visit-Organization you are interested in and find out how you can volunteer.

 Volunteers serve food in homeless shelters, visit people in a senior center,plant trees in a community,and take part in a community cleanup day. You might wash cars for a charitable cause.

 A mentor is a responsible person who serves as a role model to and guides and helps a younger person.  Many companies and organizations sponsors mentoring programs. Mentors have changed many lives.

 Shadowing means spending time with someone in a particular field, observing how he or she works.  If you are interested in careers in the health care field hospitals offer opportunities for mentoring and shadowing.  You could be assigned to a mentoring nurse in an inpatient unit.Under his or her supervision,you might help feed patients or tarnsport them to other areas of the hospital
