Informational Text – Each term… You will read an article from an assigned source You will create a bibliography citation for the source you read Write about the source in a specific way Make school and personal connections to what you have read The topics will be different each term The writing will focus on what you are doing in English class Your grade will reflect on how well you improve from one assignment to the next

Informational Text = Why do authors write? To present facts and new information about a subject (Science / Biology). To make connections with authors who present the most important facts and information to what will be learned in class. To help us understand main ideas and things that are new and relevant in a particular topic/subject impacting our lives. Informational Text Quote To repeat (a passage, phrase, etc.) from a book, magazine, speech, or the like, as by way of authority, illustration, etc. To use a brief excerpt from: To cite, offer, or bring forward as evidence or support related to a main idea. To enclose (important words, phrases, sentences) within quotation marks.

Informational Text Vocabulary New topic related vocabulary is always presented in a variety of ways within informational text. We cannot ignore new vocabulary and we need to understand what it means and how it is used in writing. Vocabulary is: Words that make up a language Unique words that relate to a particular subject – Science / Biology
