In the letter Virginia Woolf replies to a question proposed by Heffer regarding the usefulness of propaganda and empathizes with his life in camp. She offers to send him a copy of Leonard Woolf's recently published Barbarians at the Gate and any of her own works. Virginia Woolf writes in her postcard, which most likely accompanied the books mentioned in the previous letter, that she cannot publish Heffer's poems and suggests that he try the Daily Telegraph.

Ronald Heffer was an aspiring author who wrote poetry and prose about vegetarianism and slaughterhouses
