Social Darwinism Are blacks genetically disposed to be subordinate to whites?

Meet Homer Plessy In 1892, Plessy, a black man boarded the white car of train in Louisiana This was in violation of segregation laws so Plessy was arrested. Plessy argued the law was a violation of his 14 th Amendment rights. In 1896, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Plessy’s arrest. Why?

What is Social Darwinism? The social application of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. “Survival of the fittest” in society. The belief that some cultures/races are inherently superior to others.

How would you rank the following cultures/nations? Why? The United States China Mexico Russia Jamaica Kenya Italy Put the superior nation at the top of the list and the most inferior at the bottom.

Are black athletes in the U.S. superior to white athletes? Proof?

Demographics of professional sports The Big Three NBA: 78% black, 17% white. NFL: 67% black, 30% white. MLB: 9% black, 62% white. Are numbers absolute proof?

If so, are white students at BHS superior to black students?

Disprove Social Darwinism Provide support for the following statement. “Blacks are not inherently/genetically inferior to whites.”
