 Three major cities in Alaska are Sitka, Anchorage, and Fairbanks.  Alaska belongs to the Northwest region of the United States.  The capital city of Alaska is Juneau.

POPULATION AND NICKNAME The population in Alaska is 710,231 people. The nickname for Alaska is Last Frontier.

State flag, State bird and State tree The state bird is the Willow Ptarmigan. The state tree is the Sitka Spruce.

Geography The state of Alaska is a vast, sprawling expanse on the north-west tip of America. Fourteen of Alaska’s mountains are higher than any others in the United States.

Alaska became a state on January, The Alaska native claims Settlement Act was passed. In 1989 Tanker in Prince William Sound caused the largest oil spill in US history. HISTORY

A lot of people work in the fishing industry. Other people sometimes work in the mining industry. Like the federal government, Alaska’s state government is divided into three branches.
