Question At what dates does the Raising of the Participation Age (RPA) impact on those at the age of 17 and 18?

The Position 'The removal of this provision is permissive; it does not imply that these activities are unimportant, but that the Government considers that it is not necessary to legislate for them.' John Hayes Minister for F.E.

The Context The policy fits the cuts to Careers South West EBP’s Aim Higher Ofsted

Schools Are being told to review the level of need for careers education and guidance by their young people To develop ‘a costed delivery model for the future provision of careers education and guidance taking into account sources of funding and possible collaboration with the local network and other partners’.

Schools Cont’d To renew the school careers education and guidance policy and consider making arrangements to gain or renew a quality award for careers education and guidance

Local Authority Lead ‘am really concerned ref the role schools will soon take on as being mainly responsible for universal IAG. I was at a meeting yesterday where DfE reported back that the dept's view of "impartial" IAG by schools is now being reduced to just signposting young people to the National Careers Service i.e. electronic or phone help line. What we held onto as a bit of a lifeline i.e. having to buy in qualified independent IAG seems to have gone out of the window. Scary times! ‘
