Nino  " النينو "  ما هي النينو؟  تحدث ظاهرة El Nino نتيجة لتغير مؤقت في مناخ المنطقة الاستوائية بالمحيط الهادي، الذي يُحدث بدوره تأثيرات متباينة على مناطق كثيرة في أنحاء العالم من جفاف وحرائق للغابات، وأمطار غزيرة  ا لنينو هي ارتفاع في حرارة المحيط الهادئ على شرقه اكثر من المعدل العام وانخفاض الحرارة قرابة سواحل استراليا.. مما تؤدي الى الجفاف في استراليا و زيادة الامطار على كثير من المناطق الجافة كالجزيرة العربية....

 Nino  تعني بالإسبانية الولد أو ابن المسيح، وقد أطلق الصيادون في الإكوادور وبيرو على تلك الظاهرة هذا الاسم؛لأنها كانت تأتي قرب أعياد الميلاد، وكانت تجعل المحيط الهادي أكثر دفئا، وتغير اتجاه التيار بالمحيط؛ فتقل الأسماك بشكل ملحوظ؛ وهو ما يساعد الصيادين على قضاء هذه الفترة في البيوت مع أسرهم، لكن الاسم لم يعد يُستخدم للتعبير عن هذه التغيرات الموسمية الطفيفة فقط، ولكن تجاوزها للتعبير عن التغير المتواصل في جو المحيط الهادي،

 النينو.. لا يردعها إلا نفسها  والنينو لا يوقف جماحها شيء إلا نفسها؛ حيث تنتهي دورتها، ويرجع كل شيء لما كان عليه،  النينو.. تاريخ مليء بالكوارث  وكانت أقوى نينو في القرن الماضي بل على مدار التاريخ تلك التي كانت في فقد تسببت في حدوث كوارث على معظم القارات. وكان منها الجفاف والحرائق التي عانت منه كل من أستراليا وأفريقيا وإندونيسيا. والأمطار الغزيرة في بيرو التي لم يُشهد مثلها من قبل في المنطقة. وقد قُدرت الخسائر بحوالي 13 مليون دولار، وقُتل حوالي من 1300 إلى 2000 شخص.  كما انتشرت بعض الأمراض مثل الالتهاب الدماغي

 وبينما كان إل نينيو هو المسؤول الأول عن موجات الحر القاتل التي شهدها العالم في صيف 1998 م، فإن خبراء المناخ يقولون إن دورة لا نينيا هي المسؤول الأساس عن البرودة الشديدة التي اجتاحت العالم في الشتاء الماضي، والتي من المتوقع أن تستمر خلال هذا الشتاء أيضاً. 
