How We Started Began in 1987 with a group of local leaders starting the Scott County Health Care FoundationBegan in 1987 with a group of local leaders starting the Scott County Health Care Foundation –Over the next 13 years raised $400,000 through bake sales, auctions and dances In 2000 looking to meet the community’s needs the by-laws and mission were amendedIn 2000 looking to meet the community’s needs the by-laws and mission were amended –Allowed expansion of philanthropic interest to education, recreation, history, the arts and other special projects Since 2000 the Scott Community Foundation has –Since 2000 the Scott Community Foundation has – –Distributed more than $2 million for Community Projects –$150,000 in unrestricted grants –Over $200,000 in scholarships to local students “I believe it is the generous spirit of our people which has made Scott Community a great place to live.
