3 State policy on science, technology and innovation Purpose of development of science, technology and innovation: - achieve of competitiveness and equilibration of science, technology and innovation system which provide reception, generation and transmission of knowledge required for stable social and economic development of the country.

4 Main tasks: Improvement of management system on scientific, technology and innovation sphere and preparing of high quality scientific staff; Modernization of scientific, technological and innovation infrastructure; Creating conditions for transformation of information society and monitoring of ICT development and usage Increase of volume of financing for scientific innovation works; Improvement of normative and legal basis of science, innovation activity and ICT. 9 Publication activity and data dissemination Statistical data on science, technology and innovation are published in publications issued by NSC: «Kyrgyzstan in Figures», «Statistical yearbook of the Kyrgyz Republic», «Social trends in the Kyrgyz Republic», «Education and Science in the Kyrgyz Republic», «Information and communication technology in the Kyrgyz Republic», «Industry in the Kyrgyz Republic». 10 Inter-agency cooperation The NatStatCom reviews forms on science, technology and innovations jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of the KR, the Ministry of Transportation and Communication of the KR and the Ministry of Industry of the KR; Work on adjustment of list of enterprises and organizations are carried out in order to optimize of sectored catalogue of actual economic entities.

11 International cooperation Statistical information are prepared for: - CIS Statistical Committee; - international organizations (questionnaires of UNESCO, UNECE); - data are presented for UN statistical bulletins.

12 Challenges Absence of international methodology and recommendations on science, technology and innovations; Low quality of completion of statistical forms Low coverage of activity of ICT users; Absence of possibility of electronic reporting maintenance for establishments with scientific and innovation activity; Lack of available information on advanced experience of other countries in science, ICT and innovation; Lack of financial and human resources.
