Outline Background Approach Vision and Objectives Action Plan Monitoring and review

Background Strategy follows on from the 2013 Director of Public Health Annual Report 1 in 4 people will develop a mental health problem at some point in their lives Research demonstrates that well being is associated with physical health and quality UK economy incurs costs of £105 billion a year

Approach Developed by a Strategy steering group comprising of CCG, Social Care, Children's Services and Public Health Focus on promotion of well being and the reduction of stigma and discrimination Distinguishes between mental health and illness Not a review of all services – but takes a gap analysis and prioritisation approach Across the life course

Vision and Objectives Vision: “To support individuals, families and communities within North Somerset to achieve their optimum mental wellbeing enabling them to feel good and function well in their daily lives”. Three over arching objectives –Promote mental well-being –Prevent mental ill-health –Promote early identification and support

Action Plan Developed after a review of existing services against the national ‘No Health Without Mental Health’ Strategy Across the life course

Monitoring and Review Progress against this strategy will be assessed through: –Action Plan –Discrete selection of indicators
