Welcome, students and families!

Our journey together begins today! August 21, 2011 Meet and Greet: 3:30-5:30 PM The first day of school for all students is August 22, 2012! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Chinese Proverb

Dear Students, Welcome to Fifth Grade! Remember, every day counts. Enjoy yourself, make new discoveries, set realistic goals, and have fun!

Welcome to Fifth Grade! Please place school supplies in the designated areas. Don’t forget to complete the scavenger hunt located on your desk. Don’t forget to sign up for fall conferences. If you have any questions, please feel free to write me a note and leave it in my mailbox.

About Mrs. Stoyle Mr. Stoyle and I have 1 daughter, Carmella, 10 years old. I enjoy watching Bella’s softball and soccer team play. I am looking forward to watching Aurora football this fall too! We enjoy spending time together playing board games and watching football! We currently live in Streetsboro, Ohio My favorite color is Green. My favorite restaurants is Otani’s and El Campesino I listen to a lot of Radio Disney, but Dave Matthew’s Band, Jack Johnson, and Pearl Jam are my favorites! My favorite books are The Hunger Game Series, Maggie’s Door, Tuck Everlasting, Star Girl, and The Twilight Series My family LOVES the Pacific Northwest, but hope to visit Ireland, Hawaii, and Alaska some day

We live in Stow. Mr. Skeels and I have 2 children: Kiara (4 years old) Rylee (2 years old) My favorite color is red. I love Cirque du Soleil shows which are a combination of acrobatics and cool music. I love playing sports! My favorites are basketball and volleyball. I am playing volleyball right now. I enjoy taking bike rides with my family, reading, and scrapbooking! My favorite restaurant is Chipotle. My favorite books are Green Eggs and Ham and Harry Potter. I hope to go to Ireland, England, and Australia some day!

Discovery Questions Purpose: 1- To allow students to find answers to their “Ah-ha” questions they have in school. 2- To extend and enrich 5 th grade standards 3- To create life-long learners Benefits: Independent projects across all content areas to support student learning.

Classroom Community Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. Our class rules are: Be respectful and responsible. Be organized and follow directions. Be on time. Be prepared.

Homework We will assign about 50 minutes of homework every night. This includes minutes of reading. Please record in planner daily from homework menu, as well as check Mrs. Skeels’ page through the online classroom. Weekly assignments as well as individual assignments. Students will also be required to complete online journal entries. If you need extra time to work on your homework, please contact us in advance.

Tardiness School starts at 9:05 A.M. If you aren’t in the classroom by the time the second bell rings, please check in at the school office before coming to class. Please read school policy carefully in regards to vacation, and scheduled/unscheduled absences.
