Educational Template Chapter 3 eHealth a Global Priority Pamela Hussey and Margaret Ann Kennedy Chapter 3 eHealth Global Priority

Key Concepts In Chapter 3 the key concepts include : eHealth definition scope and purpose National models for healthcare information Mobile Technology Cloud Computing Chapter 3 Key Concepts

Learning Activity Type Chapter 3 – Learning Activity Type Role Based Activities and Design Pattern Critical Factors of Nursing Role in eHealth : Exercise 1 = Assimilative - Getting started Exercise 2 = Productive - Informatics solution focused Exercise 3= Interactive/adaptive - Accelerated learning

Anticipated Value Chapter 2 – Anticipated Value Exercise 1 and 2 consider the changing role of nursing in the context of eHealth and global trends in healthcare. Exercise 3 consider the critical factors required nursing involvement in system implementation for contemporary healthcare provision it presents a recurring challenge well documented in the informatics literature base, this exercise presents a possible method of solution derived from experience and backed up by theory. This exercise is best completed with team colleagues or as part of a peer reviewed exercise.

Assessment Exercises Chapter 3 – Assessment Exercises On review of this chapter, list what you think are the three key elements required for a national eHealth strategy to be realised? e-Health is described by the World Health Organization as the combined use of electronic communication and information technology in the health sector Exercise 1 Review YouTube video and articles referenced in this section what do you think are the implications of control on the scope of nursing in relation to the delivery of your practice? Exercise 2

Assessment Exercises Chapter 3 – Assessment Exercises e-Health is described by the World Health Organization as the combined use of electronic communication and information technology in the health sector You have been asked to join an inter professional committee focused on introducing the electronic care plan for your practice area and service. The first major project for this committee is to implement a pilot and complete an impact evaluation. Reflect upon what you believe to be some of the core features and functionality which you would expect to be available when using this system to record patient care? What issues would you expect may arise during this evaluation that would need to be addressed as part of this implementation process by the project management team? Design a Microsoft Excel spread sheet with two columns. In column 1 list core features you would expect to find in the system and in column 2 list potential issues that may need to be addressed with the issues you have listed. Exercise 3
