Authors Purpose and Perspective

An author has a purpose for writing. An author may write to entertain. An author may write to inform. An author may write to persuade.

An authors perspective, or viewpoint, on a subject is often connected to his or her purpose. Persuasive writing tries to persuade the reader to agree with the authors perspective.
