Parts of a Story Simile By: Mrs. Nabors

The parts of a story are like… two people getting married!

Exposition… The couple meets. They share background information. They fall in love. They discover they have a problem. They never want to leave each other. They are only happy when they are together.

Rising Action…. He proposes. She says yes. They plan a wedding. All of the plans, parties, and events that lead up to the wedding are the rising action. Even the bride walking down the aisle is part of the rising action.

Climax… The big kiss that lets everyone know they are man and wife. The turning point in their relationship. No more dating. It is serious now!

Falling Action… The reception, the dancing, the bride throwing her flowers, and the couple driving off in a limo are the falling action.

Resolution… The couple comes home from the honeymoon and live happily ever after! Their problem is solved. They never have to be apart again!
