Congratulations! You’re now a contestant on: The Best Future Belize! In this game show, you’ll compete to make the best plan for the southern coast of Belize. The team with the best coast, wins!

The Game Show There’s a goal: to make the most money while protecting the most habitat possible. And there are some rules: 1.Using the map, you’ll draw up to 5 fishing settlements and up to 3 marine protected areas. 2.Fishing settlements are worth $1 million each and have to be on the coast or islands. 3.Each settlement has a 5 mile radius where fishers can fish. But those same areas get degraded by the coastal development and human activities. 4.MPAs can protect all areas, but are no-take zones. Where they overlap a settlement area, they reduce the income.

Where do you put the MPAs and the fishing settlements to get the most money and the best habitats? The team with the highest profits and the least habitat at risk will win! Good luck! You have 15 minutes.
