SPARC indicated that young people are looking for experiences that: create opportunities for social interaction; promote inclusiveness; facilitate a healthy lifestyle; let them test themselves and their physical limits; encourage ongoing participation; provide support to learn and develop; provide opportunities to engage in social or non-competitive sport and recreation; do not take up too much of their time; and are respectful of their needs and interests and things that matter to them.
Last year, the Government invested $82 million in the KiwiSport programme to try to lift activity rates through SPORT. Stay and Play Study indicated: 70% of kids drop out of SPORT between % indicate they are highly likely to drop out of SPORT 50% dont do any SPORT BUT These results only refer to sport – what about other physical activities?
