Look at the images – do they give different messages about boxing?

What is your opinion on Boxing? Looking at the images was their a different image of boxing being shown. What is your point of view/ opinion on boxing? Are you for a ban or against a ban?

For a Ban Boxing is the only sport in which contestants have to deliberately hurt each other to win. In other sports violence against an opponent is penalised. Boxers usually start fighting when they are too young to really understand the dangers. Against a Ban It has always offered tough men a route out of poverty into a better life Produced popular heroes. It teaches discipline and control. Other sports such as skiing and horse riding are dangerous too. It is safer to have well organised boxing matched than to drive it underground.

Debate In pairs look at both sides of the argument. One of you decide to argue for a ban and the other argues against a ban. The idea is to convince your opponent of your point of view. YOU MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM YOUR DEBATE IN FRONT OF THE CLASS SO BE PREPARED!

Has the persuasive techniques your opponent has used changed your view? If so why? Is not why not?

Argument and Persuasion- Conclusion Did you put across a point of view Was there enough research the subject Was your point of view expressed strongly and clearly Did you back it up with a supporting argument or factual evidence
