What is TDV Prevention? Dating Violence: physical, sexual, or psychological/emotional violence within a dating relationship Age Group: dating violence activities among high risk youth ages Primary Prevention: Aims to reduce first-time perpetration & victimization
What is Minnesotas TDV Project? 22 month, $390K grant from CDC bring together partners identify & evaluate TDV prevention programs Identify gaps develop a plan to prevent TDV Partnerships! MDH Sexual Violence Prevention Program Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women Other partners Five other states w/ similar grants – California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, & Pennsylvania
Environmental Scan Purpose To better understand: current TDV prevention activities local leadership & support for TDV prevention Focus on identifying: primary prevention programs activities organizational policies organizational evaluation activities
Methods
Population Focus 7-county TC Metro Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, & Washington 2.8 million people (other 80 MN counties have 2.4 million) 384,358 youth ages 10-19
