Encouraging and supporting the reporting of suspected abuse, neglect and concerns. Investigating ALL reports of abuse, neglect and concerns.

Education Emphasize that ALL employees at our facility are MANDATED reporters. Begin abuse and neglect education at orientation. Mandatory inservice (100% compliance) on abuse and neglect education. Educate families and residents on Bill of Rights, Ombudsman information and location of literature.

Observation Management involved in day-to-day resident/employee routine (hands-on dining, lead activities). Observation audits that address procedures to include customer service. Family and resident interviews-How are things going?

Reporting Make staff feel comfortable coming forward with allegations of abuse, neglect or concerns, even in the face of peer pressure. ANYONE can file a concern report on behalf of a resident, family or visitor. All claims of abuse, neglect, and concerns are taken seriously. Advise all parties on protection of retaliation and individuals right to confidentiality.
