Childhood and Family Julie Payette is one of Canada’s female astronauts. Julie’s childhood and family were likely very much like yours and mine. First, Julie was born on October 20, 1963, in Montreal, Quebec. She had a typical childhood. Later, Julie got married to an engineering professor named Francois Brissette. As you probably already guessed, Julie is about 40 years of age yet this young woman has already made her mark on Canadian history.

Schooling Julie Payette’s education has been very intense. Julie went through many schools to become an astronaut. First of all, she attended primary and secondary schools in Montreal, Quebec. After this, Julie went to a university in Toronto. This was at M.A.S.C. in By this time Julie had 6 scholarships and attended the International U.W.C. of Atlantic South Wales. As you can see, Julie spent many years of hard work in school to get where she is today.

Her First Assignment All through Julie’s beginning astronaut career, she had to work on many different projects to get where she is today. Also, during Julie’s training she researched activities on the computer system that had happened between the years 1986 and As well, Julie worked as an engineer for I.M.B in Canada. In 1991, she traveled to Zurich, Switzerland, for a year. When she returned to Canada, she worked with a space research group at Bell Northern Research in Montreal, Quebec. As part of her initial training, Julie completed many jobs and courses.

A Few of Her Missions Julie Payette attended many different training schools before she became an astronaut. She has recently been a chief astronaut at the C.S.A (Canada Space Agency), and she worked at CAPCOM as a technical engineer at Mission Control Center in Houston, Texas U.S.A. Also, she divided her time between her assignments and her work in Europe and Russia in the years 1999 to As you can see, Julie has been on many missions, assignments and has been able to complete them all.

In Her Spare Time Julie Payette is so busy with her career that it is surprising that she has any spare time at all. However, she does lead a very active life outside of her career. For example, she enjoys sports such as scuba-diving, and skating. Also, Julie sings in the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra Chamber Choir, and when she has time she enjoys playing the piano. Julie has become an expert in speaking French and English. Also, is capable of speaking Spanish, Russian, German and Italian. In the end, Julie is enjoying her time and is savoring every moment of it.
