What are the acronyms… ELP – English Language Proficiency LEP – Limited English Proficient IPT – IDEA Proficiency Test ELL – English Language Learner ESL – English as a Second Language I love acronyms!
Who is involved… ELP test coordinators have been assigned in your district Responsible for training and/or administering the IDEA Proficiency Test (IPT) developed by Ballard & Tighe, distributed and scored by Pearson. Limited English Proficient (LEP) pupils must be: 4 AAC Identified within 30 days after the start of the year. Tested annually using state-wide assessment IPT Exited when a proficient score on the IPT is received. Monitored for two years after exiting LEP status
When do things happen… ELP Test Coordinator training in Anchorage Order IPT test materials based on district enrollment Submit a file for pre-id labels Receive shipment of IPT materials Train district personnel to administer the IPT
When do things happen… Test window begins Feb. 1 End of test window, March 31 Return completed tests for scoring Student 2011 reports posted for districts to distribute *ELP reports removed from SchoolHOuse
