Answers! Page 1 1.Oak Crest residents were informed on Thursday, 10/16/2014, that they may keep their “comcast.net” address if they want. If you continue using your existing Comcast account you will need to do two things during the Spring of 2015 as follows: a. When the Erickson technician comes to your apartment tell him/her that you are keeping your “comcast.net” address and keeping your existing cable modem (the box connected between the wall and your computer). You will pay your monthly bill to Comcast as you do now for Internet service. b. Pay for Oak Crest Connect service on your monthly bill from Erickson. You will not be allowed to opt-out of Oak Crest Connect. Why pay twice for Internet service? We can show you how to create a new free address and avoid paying twice for Internet service.

If you are a retired Verizon employee receiving a discounted land-line monthly phone bill from Verizon you will not get credit for this discount in your monthly bill from Erickson even though Verizon will be providing Oak Crest Connect land-line phone service. 3. Will I have to change my address? Yes – if you want to save money! Use Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Liv , HotMail or others. Suggestion: Start Now Your new address should be operational prior to: March 16, After OCV Connect: Will I be able to use a static IP address. NO!
Answers! Page 3 5. If you currently rent your cable modem or router Erickson will return it to Comcast for you. 6. There is no limit to the number of devices you can connect to the new wireless network. 7. The day you sign your agreement with Erickson that you are satisfied that all work is complete is the day your Address Book (contact list) and all s are deleted from your comcast.net account. Don’t wait until the 2nd Quarter of 2015 to convert! 8. When your comcast.net account is deleted you will not be able to use Norton as your virus protection (copyright violation). Computer Group management will work with Erickson to make any conversions in the Lab that are required. 10. The new land-line phone service will include free unlimited local, national and international long distance calling. You also get Caller ID, Voice Mail and Call Waiting. Call forwarding will not be an option of Oak Crest Connect. This change will not affect cell phones.

Erickson recommends you Do Not use a private wireless network inside your apartment. If you install a bridge router in your apartment the bridge frequencies (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) will conflict with the OCV Connect frequencies. 13. Computer users who are paying AOL, AT&T or Verizon for dial-up Internet download service will need to cancel Internet service after Oak Crest Connect becomes available. 14. How will I move my Address Book from comcast.net to the new address? Gmail is a one step process: Click on "Import mail and contacts”. or Use Export from comcast.net and then import to the new client.
