UK Wide Core Skills & Training Framework Findings of 2 nd Stage Consultation and Implications for Development of the Framework

Development of UK wide Core Skills Framework Part of programme commissioned by UK Commission for Employment and Skills – recognising a common need. Significant developments already being pursued – opportunity to consolidate and accelerate. Address the challenge of sustainability Objective Develop a UK wide relevant framework Engage national Subject Matter Experts in informing the framework Seek high level endorsements to support awareness of benefits and adoption of framework

Organisational Value 81% agree it would promote consistency 47% either not sure or disagree that will reduce organisation need to monitor

Frequency and Focus of Open Comments 25%, relation to understanding the purpose and direction of the framework, 10%,operational issues related to the use of the framework, 9%, further development to meet country specific issues, 9%, mapping to other developments, 8%, quality assurance processes, Subjects –Resuscitation (13%).

Conclusions The overall content, organisation and structure of the framework is supported. With suggested enhancements the framework will be of value to organisations in helping to meet their statutory and mandatory training requirements. The proposed quality assurance mechanisms for ensuring the framework are supported. Further detail and clarity regarding framework operational issues are needed.

A Final Thought.... Statutory and Mandatory training is a tough nut to crack but like the Capuchin Monkey, if we perserve, adapt and are willing to learn it can and will be cracked!
