LA NRENs PR Network

LA NRENs PR Network - The beginning  Began as part of the visibility Plan of the ALICE2 Project (December January 2013) in order to efficiently disseminate the objectives, developments, advances and achievements of ALICE2 and RedCLARA, the services built on top of the network and the advances of the human network.  In March 2010 started to work the intra-regional dissemination and public relations network of Latin America (the LA NRENs PR Network).

LA NRENs PR Network - Objectives  To share knowledge of how to manage dissemination processes.  The LA NRENs need to learn how to communicate what they do, for whom and why, and they also need to learn how to reach those they need as allies.  Furthermore, ALICE2 and RedCLARA could benefit in many ways from the collaboration of the LA NRENs’ future PR representatives, starting with news-sharing and the identification of promotional projects and relevant researchers.  To learn from the TF-CPR experience.  To share our experience and knowledge with CKLN (the Caribbean) and UbuntuNet Alliance (Africa Sub-Sahara), both regional advanced networks intiatives co-funded by the EC.

LA NRENs PR Network - Opinions "I hope this does not end here, we have many mutual collaborative initiatives to follow.” JULIO CARDOZO "The group has been very important for the dissemination of community events. Every time someone need support to announce an event or share information in the Region there is a big door open to help and support each one of its members.” MARTHA AVILA "Working with (distribution) lists has been good. We must continue with the meetings. The importance of communicators is a fact.” CAMILO JAIMES "This group has been very important to raise awareness of the work of the network. It would be a shame to end. The last three years have been totally positive." CRISTINA FERNÁNDEZ "This group is a breakthrough in the dissemination of the work of the network. Thanks for the support for the dissemination of the projects." YSABEL BRICEÑO 14

LA NRENs PR Network - What have we learned? We can do it alone, but we can do it better together The network is made of people not Mbps Share information but mainly share ideas We learn what to do and what not to do The "know how" is the result of experiences

ELCIRA Project

The ELCIRA Project (Europe Latin America Collaborative e-Infrastructure for Research Activities) aims to coordinate a series of collaboration tools and services that are being developed in Europe and Latin America in order to provide an interoperability framework that facilitates the work of European-Latin American research teams and to foster collaboration in joint research projects. 17

The ELCIRA Project takes off Tools and services to enhance collaboration between Europe and Latin America in research activities  Allows the easy and unified access to advanced networks through federations in Latin America for authentication, authorisation and identity (AAI) mechanisms and their integration with Europe’s eduGAIN.  Offers collaboration tools and services for research communities across Europe and Latin America by:  Setting the grounds for the development of a Europe-Latin America High Quality Video Conference Service integrated with eduCONF.  Creating and promoting a prototype collaboration Portal for user communities of both continents, based on a Cloud Style version of RedCLARA’s Portal enriched with open source tools developed in Europe.  Fosters the deployment of eduroam services in Latin America.  Promotes collaboration among Latin American and European researchers. 18
