Jamaica

Where Jamaica Is Jamaica is an island in the West Indies, 90 mi (145 km) south of Cuba and 100 mi (161 km) west of Haiti. It is a little smaller than Connecticut. The island is made up of coastal lowlands, a limestone plateau, and the Blue Mountains, a group of volcanic hills, in the east.

A little bit of history. Jamaica was found in 1494, by Arwak Indians when Columbus explored it. It was named St. Lago until 1655 when the British claimed it. Buccaneers operated from Port Royal, also the capital, until it fell into the sea in an earthquake in 1692.

Let’s talk about sports. Let’s talk about the fastest human alive (or so people say)! Usain Bolt. Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter. He is the first man to hold the 100 meters and 200 meters world records since fully automatic time measurements became mandatory in 1977.
