Embed the Pathway 2014

‘Embed the Pathway’ supports differentiation by enabling all players to work on 4 key elements of development in order to reach their potential and grow a greater pool of potential England players. It is a starting point, which answers the question; to make my players better what should I be doing?

Source; Sport England Youth Review 2014 Team sports are struggling Football down 12% Cricket down 10% Rugby Union down 16% The little growth that is happening is in “non structured” sport e.g. self guided cycling gyms or participation events like Tough Mudder

Source; Sport England Youth Review 2014

The Challenge; Sources; Office of National Statistics, AfPE, RFL

The Result;

The solution; Grow the game Continue to provide a quality environment to promote player engagement and development. Widening the talent base – Secondary school delivery (school – club links) Refocus towards talent development, not merely identification, that due to RAE is proven to be flawed Reducing those that “slip the net” Support community coaches with CPD and resources

Developing Coaches, Developing Players A “national curriculum” for RL at U12 – U14 24 sessions in 3 blocks of 8 – all now written & supported by CPD and a growing coaching support network

This will lead to: Improved quality of the player Leave the player in their own environment longer – increased inclusivity More players getting more opportunities to demonstrate their potential Regular focused, player profiling.

Benefits to Clubs and schools Community Clubs and Schools can be accredited Recognises delivery of high quality in their environments and a commitment to CPD by coaches and teachers Ongoing work to link this to kit and equipment benefits Coaches are being certificated Accreditation forms available now

Building a coaching network Web content ETP App for IOS and Android Twitter feed @EmbedThePathway You Tube Channel From 2015 we will be building a network of coach developers Teachers RL Conferences Creating a growing culture of CPD in clubs and schools Building a coaching network
