Narrative Writing “Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life”

Objective You will choose a word for each letter of the alphabet and write a brief narrative explanation of why it is important to you based on an event or experience in your life.

Where do I start? For each letter of the alphabet, you will choose a word and then write a brief narrative explanation of why it is important to you. You will need to keep your letters/narratives in orders.

After you choose your words for each letter and have written the brief narratives to go along with each letter, you will create a booklet.

You will need to provide at least 10 pictures/images to support your word. (one picture per word) Refer to the example handout

Ideas for Possible Topics A treasured object A family photo A hard moment Childhood games Friends Favorite food/candy Siblings Family experiences Things that bother you Things you enjoy Favorite holiday or holiday memories

Reflective Essay After completing the project, you will complete a typed, one-page reflection on how you found the “extraordinary in your ordinary life.” This will be last page of your booklet.

Your Encyclopedia Will… have a cover page be typed Include at least 10 pictures to support the word (one picture per word) Include a typed, 1-page reflective essay
