Play many times of music including classical, tribal, jazz, country, popular, opera, blues and more. Play each track for 30 or more seconds, allowing the children to express and interpret, through movement, what they believe the music is "saying" to them. Cut crepe paper streams or pieces of ribbon to about 3 feet long and give one to each child. Show the children how to hold one end of the ribbon in one had and hold it up high. Then turn on some music and let them dance and twirl their streamers in the air. On different days provide different types of music, both fast and slow. You can even tie two colors of ribbon together for holiday- themed ribbon dancing. Think orange and black for Halloween or pink and red for Valentine's Day. The crepe paper provides a cheap way for ribbons. How many different ways can they pop the bubbles? With what different body parts? *Materials needed: Music CD Lots of bubble wrap!
Group Movement For this group movement I would have different types of music playing. This will allow children to do free movement, but also be aware of how their friends are moving and what reaction they have if their friend does a certain movement. *Materials: group movement band
