4 th Grade SAL1: Students will describe the roles of organisms and the flow of energy within an ecosystem

An Ecosystem is a complex set of relationships among the living resources, habitats, and residents of an area.

Producers: are the beginning of a simple food chain like plants and vegetables Consumer: the next link in the food chain: an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals Decomposer: The last link in the chain; plants and animals that break down dead plants and animals into organic materials that go back into the soil.
