 It is credited to Clive Campbell, or DJ Kool Herc, who is a Jamaican born DJ who played block parties in the Bronx. He would isolate the drum beats in response to his dancers. This lead to break beat DJing which formed the basis of hip hop music.

 Positive Effects- A political voice and a way that African- Americans got there point of views over. They also got power and a voice from creating this new genre of music.  Negative Effects- The negative effects of Hip-hop were different throughout the country. Many people felt that Hip-hop would bring a new view of drugs and life of crime. People felt that this was one of the worst music genre’s to ever be brought about and still to this day people feel that way.

Hip Hop pioneer DJ Cool Herc came onto the music scene, being the first to put old funk and R&B records onto turntables to make them ‘danceable’. Afrika Bambaataa formed the Zulu Nation, a group of DJ’s and graffiti artists. Ghetto youth began to turn away from violence and toward music. Mr. Magic was credited to bringing hip hop to the radio. This put the genre on the map. One of hip hops most legendary battles began. Marley Marl and MC Shan released ‘The Bridge’ and in response Boogie Down Productions released ‘The Bridge is Over.’ Paul’s Botique released by the Beastie Boys became their landmark record.

 A pioneer in the hip hop game, Christopher George Latore Wallace fulfilled the behaviors of a New York rapper. He started dealing drugs at an early age, and continued until he was discovered and signed to a record label. He released several albums, all of which were major hits.  In February 1997, he was victim to a drive-by shooting that claimed his life. After his death, Biggie Smalls was named the greatest rapper of all time and was given numerous awards in his honor.

The beastie boys are an American Hip Hop group from New York City that was formed in They were originally a hardcore punk group but soon thereafter turned into a hip hop group. They were inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame on September 27 th, They are one of the longest lived hip-hop groups. Group members include Michael Diamond, Adam Yauch, and Adam Horowitz.
