Gloucester Township School District An Informational Overview about the 1:1 Initiative

Our Agenda 1:1 Chromebook Initiative Student Benefits Distribution Process General Care Overview of Student Responsibilities Parent Resources

What is a Chromebook?

Chromebooks and 21 st Century Skills To address 21 st Century skills, students are expected to: Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, assess the credibility and accuracy of each source, and integrate the information while avoiding plagiarism. Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words. Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., quantitative data, video, multimedia) in order to address a question or solve a problem. Synthesize information from a range of sources (e.g., texts, experiments, simulations) into a coherent understanding of a process, phenomenon, or concept, resolving conflicting information when possible.

Chromebooks in the Digital Age “Knowledge is available on every Internet-connected device, what you know matters far less than what you can do with what you know. The capacity to innovate — the ability to solve problems creatively or bring new possibilities to life — and skills like critical thinking, communication and collaboration are far more important than academic knowledge.” -Tony Wagner

Chromebooks 21st Century Learning In an increasingly complex, demanding and competitive 21st century, students need to learn more than the 3R’s they are tested on in school.
