Public Consultation A RE YENG REVIEW LINE 2B 13 August 2015

Agenda Meeting facilitator – Dr David de Waal Welcome – Cllr Siobhan Muller Review of Line 2B – Cllr Aaron Maluleka Presentation – Rob Kelly & Mandla Ndlovu Discussion General Closing – Vote of thanks

Review of Line 2B Councillor Maluleka Council Resolved: That the proposed revised A Re Yeng Line 2B cross section design (lane acquisition for TRT Option 2) from the intersection of University/Lynnwood Road in Hatfield, along Lynnwood Road and Atterbury Road up to the intersection with January Masilela Drive, be approved.

POLICY FRAMEWORK NATIONAL LAND TRANSPORT ACT, 2009 The Act proposes that priority be given to public transport by ensuring the provision of adequate public transport services and applying travel demand management measures to discourage private transport.

Gauteng 25-Year Integrated Transport Masterplan States that the GITMP 25 presents a paradigm shift in spatial (Land Use) and Transport Planning.

BRT and IRPTN Report “The provision of additional lanes was specified as a last resort, which may require land expropriation if the road reserve is not wide enough. In the assessment a certain level of reduction in the level of service to general traffic was accepted in order to promote public transport. If the traffic impact on the rapid transit route and adjacent routes were severe, mitigation measures such as traffic management and provision of additional lanes could be specified. In cases where only one lane per direction is available, construction of an additional lane per direction was specified to accommodate dedicated lanes for the rapid transit”
