The First Epistle of Peter July 26, 2015 Bob Eckel 1 1 Peter 4:7-11 “The Importance of Mutual Love in End-Times Living - Part 2” I Peter 4:10 - As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. –Notice this important phrase, each one has received a gift. In Greek, as is kathos – in whatsoever quantity has received – aorist indicative Everyone – and how do we know this gift (charisma) or enablement? –One thing an enablement is not is a natural attribute in the flesh. –Let’s not seek this gift by our own performance, but life In Christ will declare it without our even noticing. Is it only one gift? –The enablements are listed in 1 Cor 12&14; Rom 12;6-21; Eph 4:7-16. »1 Cor 12:4 - Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. Whatever, we need to minister it to one another. –minister – present active –Speaking of Onesiphorus, Paul states

The First Epistle of Peter July 26, 2015 Bob Eckel 2 1 Peter 4:7-11 “The Importance of Mutual Love in End-Times Living - Part 2” »1 Tim 1:18 - The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well. –And this ministering is in acknowledgment of being good stewards of the manifold grace of God. stewards – literally one who governs a household Describe manifold grace or in context the household. –manifold – multifaceted and unmeasurable. –grace – only from God –Barnes – ‘The grace or favor of God evinced in many ways, or by a variety of gifts. His favors are not confined to one single thing; as, for example, to talent for doing good by preaching; but are extended to a great many things by which we may do good to influence property, reputation, wisdom, experience. All these are to be regarded as his gifts; all to be employed in doing good to others as we have opportunity.’

The First Epistle of Peter July 26, 2015 Bob Eckel 3 1 Peter 4:7-11 “The Importance of Mutual Love in End-Times Living - Part 2” 2 Pet 3:18 - But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:10 - But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 1 Peter 4:11 - If anyone speaks, let him speak as (the) oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. –Two categories of enablement – speaking and ministering. speaking oracles of God – truth, truth, truth. –Matt 7:29 - For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

The First Epistle of Peter July 26, 2015 Bob Eckel 4 1 Peter 4:7-11 “The Importance of Mutual Love in End-Times Living - Part 2” –2 Cor 2:17 - For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. ministering with the ability which God supplies Rom 12:6-8 as an example of enablements. –The purpose? that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ –And while we are about our heavenly business here on earth and until His coming, to whom does the glory and power belong and for how long? No credit to the servant! God gets the glory and through the Lord Jesus Christ (in whom we have been resurrected and made new creations)! forever and ever. Amen. –Rev 1:6 - and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. –Amen – let it be!

The First Epistle of Peter July 26, 2015 Bob Eckel 5 1 Peter 4:7-11 “The Importance of Mutual Love in End-Times Living - Part 2” Rev 12:12, 13 - Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
