Seeing Jesus in His Glory Luke 9:28-36

A Real Event Peter, James and John witnessed the occurrence on the mount – Luke 9:28-29 John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” 1 John 1:1a “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon...“

Peter’s Testimony 2 Peter 1:16-18 “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.”

Conversing with Moses and Elijah Moses and Elijah represented the law and the prophets – Luke 9:30; Matthew 7:12 John 7:19a “Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law?” Luke 24:25-27, Acts 26:22-23

Talking about Jesus’ Exodus Luke 9:31 – The word translated “decease” literally means “departure,” or “exodus” Their justification depended on it! Hebrews 11:39-40 Hebrews 9:24-28

Declared to be God’s Spokesman Peter misunderstood the significance of the events on the mount – Luke 9:32-33 The Father said to hear his Son – Luke 9:34-35 God only has one spokesman today – Luke 9:36 –Hebrews 1:1-2 Remember Moses’ prophecy – Deuteronomy 18:15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.” (Acts 3:18-23)
