The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Draft year: 1974 Amendment year: 1996 This is a National act only in the U.S.

This act was made to protect the quality of drinking water in the U.S. It affects all water actually or potentially designed for drinking whether from aboveground or underground sources Water systems are required to report their water quality annually to their customers and produce an annual compliance report

EPA is responsible for ensuring the safety of drinking water in the U.S. under this act Public and community water systems are responsible for providing their customers with health and quality reports
