Geometric Solids Unit Portfolio Presentation Lane Sanders

Unit Summary Each group will have to find out everything there is to know about a specific three dimensional solid in geometry. It will be your turn to teach the class what they need in order to pass the test and answer the number one question we all have, When am I ever gonna use this?. Activities will include researching the internet or other multimedia resources and presenting your information through a PowerPoint presentation that provides examples of your solid, surface area, volume, and real-life situations to go along with each one. Who can teach the class better than me? I guess we will see!!! Each group will have to find out everything there is to know about a specific three dimensional solid in geometry. Curriculum Framing Questions Essential Question Essential Question When do you check the volume? Unit Questions Unit Questions 1. What does surface area and volume affect in your life? 2. Explain how you use surface area and volume with solids at your house. Content Questions Content Questions 1.Identify each solid by its picture. 2.Name the number of sides, vertices, and faces for each solid. 3.What is Eulers Formula? 4.What is surface area? 5.What is volume? 6.Write the formula for the surface area and volume of each solid. Describe what each part means. 7.What are the steps to find the surface area and volume of each solid? Explain using words and pictures. 8.How do you find the surface area of a solid without a formula?
