Doffing PPE (with N95 respirator)

Prep Will need a second donned associate that is a trained observer. This associate will monitor and help by reading each step of the doffing procedure while monitoring that each step is completed accurately. The trained observer will have minimal contact with the contaminated associate. When the trained observer’s hands come in contact with the contaminated associate or their PPE, they must immediately disinfect their gloved hands. If any other part of the observer comes in contact, follow the proper protocol for removal of all PPE.

Anteroom Setup 3 sets of non-sterile gloves per associate Bleach Sani Cloths and alcohol hand sanitizer Bleach buckets for shoes (off of the matt but close enough so associate can step off mat into the buckets) Plastic drape on floor with red bag lined garbage can on the drape. Plastic drape should be placed in a manner that allows the contaminated associate to step out of the patient room and directly onto the drape/mat.

Inspection Donned trained observer should visually inspect the PPE for contamination, cuts or tears prior to allowing the associate to remove their PPE. The trained observer should disinfect all contaminated areas with bleach cloths.
