Overview Growing Latino immigrant community in the Triangle, interested in whether and how these groups can access social services Selected 15 social service agencies that cater to Latino populations in Durham County Analyzing 1) distribution of Latino population compared to agency location, 2) accessibility via transit, and 3) barriers to accessibility

Latino Population Distribution

Latino Population Concentrated in City Center, and Not Randomly!

Agencies Located Near Latino Clusters

Agencies are Near Bus Stops, and are Relatively Easy to Access Transit Accessibility to Agencies, Durham County

Walker Accessibility: Room for Improvement

Interim Conclusion and What’s Next Agencies are relatively well-located, near concentration of Latino population in Durham city center Transit accessibility pretty strong – all 15 centers within a quarter mile of multiple Durham Transit bus routes Further Exploration: What about populations not in the city center? What about individual scale (e.g., disabilities, behavior), and how do these individual characteristics affect barriers to accessibility?
