What Science Should I Take Next Year? EARTH SCIENCE Are you going to be a Freshman next year? Do you like fun, Hands on Activities, and Experimentation? Would you like to use your math skills and Learn about your Earth?

GREAT SCIENCE COURSES OFFERED at WHS Earth Science (Honors & Academic) Biology (Honors & Academic) Chemistry Physics (Conceptual & Physics) Environmental Explorations AP Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) Independent Science Research (12 th grade)

What Would I Do in Earth Science? One cannot fully enjoy the Earth you live on unless you know its rules and history. Learn foundational science skills that will be necessary for future science courses (ex. research, experimental design) We will learn - Geology, Oceanography, Weather & Climate, Maps & Mapping, Plate Tectonics, and Astronomy.

What Do I Need to Know A desire to know why things happen on the Earth. An open mind to new concepts and ideas. A willingness to work with others to solve and learn about the earth’s processes. Read for understanding of the topics. A want to learn new things by actually doing them.

What makes a Student successful in Earth Science? Good Attendance Self Discipline Respect for Others Perseverance Responsibility Honesty Able to work independently Studies 30 minutes per night

Provides the foundation for science skills required in future science courses Working towards an advanced or standard diploma To receive the 0.5 GPA bump for Honors Earth Science To have a better understanding of requirements needed for Environmental Explorations and GeoSpatial Informational Systems (GIS) course.

Academic or Honors Earth Science? Honors Earth Science includes embedded research based curriculum projects Students gain experience with vital science skills that are required for future science courses Students will complete an independent research project to present at the end of the year Science Symposium
